HISTORY

Le Peintre began as a residential painting company in 1992, focusing only on traditional, interior painting. We stood apart from other companies on the basis of our extremely high standard of quality. In 1995 we were incorporated. It was during that time that we began to explore the more interesting and challenging fields of special paint techniques and faux finishes. In 1998 we expanded our artistic portfolio with the addition of murals and textures.

Our focus and our goal are to beautify your space through our artistry. We work with you to determine your likes and dislikes, taking the time to learn your style and study your current surroundings to learn what suits your taste and your living space. We encourage our clients to express themselves through color, whether bold or subtle. Color can add drama and depth to your décor, and we can guide you in using it skillfully and beautifully. We are not designers, but can offer you our artistic guidance or work with a designer of your choice.

Of paramount importance to us is building a relationship of supreme trust with our clients. By developing a comfortable working relationship, we can work together to fulfill your decorating dreams.

Our custom painting is accomplished using only the finest quality paints (Benjamin Moore, Ralph Lauren, Behr, Sherwin Williams, special artist-quality products, etc.). We do not use contractor-quality paint.

Our first step, whether applying a single color or a complex finishing technique, is to thoroughly prepare the surface, removing old coverings if necessary, spackling, sanding, and priming. Even in a brand new home, the walls require thorough preparation, because the paint applied to new homes is not of the best quality and does not provide a proper surface for quality covering.

The special techniques we offer include faux finishing, such as marbleizing, burling, etc.; textures such as sanddrifting, torn paper, tissue paper, and suede; ragging, sponging, and combing techniques; Venetian plaster; and murals and Trompe L’oeil.

Georges L. Mavlian, the president of Le Peintre, specializes in custom painting, faux finish, special paper techniques, and Venetian plaster. He founded the company in 1992. He began with a knack for drywall repair, wallpaper removal, and quality traditional painting that greatly impressed all clients and set him apart from other painting contractors. In the area of specialized techniques he has taken many courses and developed a talent in many years. Through these courses and years of practice he has become a gifted practitioner.

Sally Heffernan has worked with Le Peintre for several years, specializing in paper techniques, such as torn paper and tissue paper and also in special paint techniques such as sponging, ragging and combing.

Sasha Williams is Le Peintre’s master painter. She applies her wealth of talent to creating murals, Trompe L’oeil, gold leaf, and dazzling faux finishes. Ms. Williams trained in a fine art academy in Russia and completed a four-year program at Shephard College in Shephardstown, WV. Recently, she was awarded second place in the prestigious FraAngelico Art Foundation Competition in Chicago.

We are also pleased to have working with us Francisco Carballo, a residential painter with years of experience and a gifted artist in his own right. Mr. Caballo specializes in faux finishes and murals. He has conducted several classes in the art of faux finishing and wallpapering.

Your home, office, or house of worship is like a canvas, and Le Peintre is dedicated to transforming that canvas into a work of art that will surround and delight you for years to come.
